As the Carbondale Wild West Rodeo wraps up its summer season, it’s worth remembering that the Gus Darien Arena takes its name not from a star rider but from a hard working rancher and steady stopwatch man.
In celebration of our Western heritage, Holy Cross Energy will be at the rodeo on August 10th distributing hats for aspiring cowboys and cowgirls, young and old. Get your free cowboy hat while they last. Holy Cross Energy is a proud sponsor of the Carbondale Wild West Rodeo and reminds folks that saving energy will help preserve the environment. Carbondale Wild West Rodeo New Scholarship Program
Scholarship forms (see text and pdf below) are due August 15th in order to be announced at August 17th finals rodeo.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be available. We apologize for the short notice, but this is a new program for us and it took some time to decide the parameters of the scholarship program. We have tried to keep the application simple but with enough information to choose the most worthy applicants.
No matter if you want to celebrate the heritage of the Paniolo, remember your last visit or just wear a loud shirt, the Carbondale Rodeo’s annual Hawaiian night, August 10th is sure to be a colorful night. Want to see cowboys in grass skirts? This is the night.
