Paula Mayer takes a closer look at the life saving job the rodeo pickup men perform around the rough stock events at a rodeo. It takes a special dedication to go into the fray of animal and rough stock contestant, while horseback and putting aside the thought that they as pickup men or their horses could end up a casualty to the frenzied action. The pickup men push these thoughts aside and go into the wreck to keep rider and horse or bull, and themselves and their mounts safe to ride another day.

Don't Miss it This Thursday Aug. 19 -- CWWR Finals & End of Season

Come join us for the last rodeo of the season. You don't want to weaken now and you sure don't want to miss out. We will be announcing the Buckle Winners and All Around. It's been a heck of a fun season and we've sure been blessed to be back at it. We can't express in words how much it meant to see the stands fill up, hear the whoops of the fans, and watch the action packed events. The enthusiasm of the crowds has been contagious. CWWR Scholarship Applications & Award Nominations Due Mon., Aug 16th

It's time to start your scholarship application and be thinking of your nominations for the Trent Goscha Sportsmanship Award

The Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Association Board established the Trent Goscha Sportsmanship Award in 2017. Trent's family, Mike and Jayme his parents and sister Tess have been very supportive and provided sponsorship for this award as well. The belt buckle award is presented annually at the Finals Rodeo in memory of Trent.

Mutton Bustin' Now First Come First Enter in Person at 5 Rodeo Night

Due to the high demand for kiddos to participate in Mutton Bustin', it will now be a First Come First Entered by making your way to the Secretary Shed at the rodeo on rodeo night beginning at 5. There is a limit to participants each rodeo night. Please try to alternate weeks when you enter your kids to allow others to have a chance. Please do not call in any longer as the phones are so busy with the other events. We hope this will make it more accommodating for more of our eager kiddos to get to participate.
