Scholarships

Scholarship applications are due Thursday, August 6th, to be announced at the Finals Rodeo, August 20th. To apply, please fill out the online or printable application at the bottom of the page.

It is the desire of the Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Association to make available up to $6,000 awarded to Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Association contestants or volunteers who are actively enrolled in college or a trade school.

Award Amount: Up to $6,000
Academic Year: 2026 – 2027

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A contestant or volunteer who has participated or volunteered in a minimum of nine (9) rodeos during the 2026 Carbondale Wild West Rodeo season.
  • A contestant or volunteer who has been accepted into an accredited education program or enrolled in an accredited trade school program.
 
Application Requirements

The Selection Committee will consider the applicants:

  • Resume
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Applicant’s Personal Statement
  • Interview (if determined necessary by the Committee)
 
Letters of Recommendation:

Two (2) letters of recommendation (not from a family member.)

Personal Statement:

Your statement should:

  • Be a typed statement, personal letter, or essay that discusses your plans and goals.
  • Describe a meaningful experience or a person who inspired you
  • Note any special circumstances or family situations
  • Explain how this award will support your educational journey

Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Resume
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement
  • Interview (if required by the Selection Committee)

Welcome to the Rodeo

The Carbondale Rodeo Committee is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization committed to keeping the Roaring Fork Valley’s western heritage alive by offering a fun family-oriented event for residents and visitors alike. The Carbondale Wild West Rodeo is held every Thursday from June until late August, rain or shine.

The Rodeo Season

The rodeo season will begin the first Thursday in June, and continue through the third Thursday in August. Come down to the rodeo every Thursday evening for 12 weeks. 

  • Gates open at 5 pm 
  • Slack is at 5:45 pm
  • Grand Entry is at 7:30
