No better place to start your Independence Day Festivities than the Carbondale Wild West Rodeo. Join us Thursday, June 30th to kick off your 4th of July celebration. Bring your food coolers, BBQ grills, and tailgate picnics are allowed. Or leave the cooking and refreshments to Slow Groovin’ BBQ, Senior Matters with snocones and nachos, and our two youth organizations; 4-H and Roaring Fork Volleyball serving up hot, buttery, fresh popcorn.
Your Gus Darien Rodeo Arena will be all decked out in patriotic fanfare and contestants have been known to join in the celebration dressing up in their best red, white and blue and bedazzling their horses too. The bulls and the broncs are sure to thrill you and kids can’t resist joining in on the calf scramble. Be sure to get their wrist bracelets ahead of time at the Secretary Shed so they are allowed into the arena to join in the joy and laughter the Calf Scramble brings to all. Come join us!
Gates for the general public open at 5:30 p.m. Slack for Team Roping and Open Barrels (if applicable) starts no later than 6:00 p.m. Grand Entry is at 7:30 for the rodeo performance. If you get there early you might get one of the mini hand-held flags we give away. We look forward to seeing you at the best Small Town Rodeo, Big Time Fun around.
