The first rodeo of the season is Thursday June 4th. The CWWR is held every Thursday: June 4 – August 20, rain or shine; Gus Darien Riding Arena, County Road 100 (Catherine Store Road), Carbondale. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., slack at 6:00, and Grand Entry at 7:30 sharp. (learn more )

There are concessions available for purchase at the rodeo, everything from sno-cones, popcorn, cookies to a smorgasbord of barbecue items. You can also bring your picnic basket and cooler.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate or purchased in advance at the Roaring Fork Valley Coop in Carbondale. Admission is $10 per adult or $30 per carload. A carload is 6 people or less. For each additional adult over 6 in a carload, admission is $5 per person. Children under ten are free as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Discount season passes are available at the Roaring Fork Valley Coop in Carbondale. A book of six fully transferable tickets is $50 which saves $2/ticket. Ticket stubs contain a 20% discount on merchandise at the Roaring Fork Valley Coop.

Contestants, don’t forget entries for the June 4th, Carbondale Wild West Rodeo are on Tuesday June 2nd, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Entry number is 970-923-9270. All events except for the calf scramble must call in for the first rodeo.

Lot parking is free and opens at 5:30 p.m.. Parking around the arena fence is $20 per vehicle. Please put your money in the self-serve envelopes in the yellow box on the white building located on the east end of the arena. Arena fence parking is open on Thursdays at 6:00 a.m. Many times arena fence parking is full by mid-morning to noon.

Available for our spectators with disabilities and/or mobility issues is Up-Front Parking and a special seating area next to the fence with a close-up view of the action. This parking is behind both bleachers; and the reserved seating is located in front of the west bleachers (closest to Carbondale). BRING your own chairs as the seating area does not have chairs but is simply a reserved area for spectators with disabilities/mobility issues and their guests. Be sure and let the parking staff know you are headed to handicap parking so they are not trying to direct you to the main parking lots instead.

It isn’t too late to help sponsor the rodeo. You can join the many businesses, organizations, individuals and families that help to sponsor the rodeo. Available events are – Mutton Bustin’; Junior Bull Riding & Steer Riding; Ladies Breakaway Roping; Rodeo Program Sponsor; and Gus Darien Arena Sponsor. Call Mike Kennedy at 970-379-3907 for more info.

We’re Raising the Roof at the Carbondale Wild West Rodeo. The Garfield County Federal Mineral Lease District awarded a Spring 2015 grant to the Town of Carbondale and in partnership with the Carbondale Wild West Assoc. (CWWRA). CWWRA is providing some matching funds along with Town of Carbondale. The grant of $48,900 will be used to place a roof on the east grand stands at the Gus Darien Arena, home to the Carbondale Wild West Rodeo. The project is currently out for bids through the town’s bidding process. We expect work to start after the last rodeo of the 2015 season.
