The Tom and Roz Turnbull Family are making a generous donation of a picnic pavilion at the Gus Darien Arena. The Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Association genuinely appreciates the continued support of the Turnbull Family. Below Roz and Tom tell us a little more about the pavilion and why they felt it was something they wanted to do for the rodeo arena and for the community as a whole.
“Picnic Pavilion
About a year ago we were thinking it would be really nice to have a public picnic place that would serve as a remembrance for Roz’s parents Bob and Ditty Perry who ranched here for many years. They loved this valley and the Carbondale community and gave freely of their time and energy to help in numerous ways. Lots of old timers worked hard to make this community the place it is today and we wanted to do something that would honor all those hardy souls who have gone on but are not forgotten.
We thank all those who have made this possible with special thanks to Sherry Rubin for her persistence in keeping this idea moving forward and to Travis Jadwin and his Silvarado crew for building the pavilion. Our greatest hope is that it will get lots of use both summer and winter and will serve to remind us all of family, friends, and our western traditions and heritage.
Cheers to the “Wild West” crew, the board and many volunteers who make the rodeo a fun event!

In the near future panels will be added to portray some of Carbondale’s agricultural history and a fire pit added as well. Many people have come together to make this happen and we will be acknowledging them with a public thank you! ”
