Our condolences go out to the Zordel family at the passing of Tomie Zordel on February 11th. Tomie’s family moved to Aspen from Kansas when he was little. He was a ranch hand and took care of many ranches around the Roaring Fork Valley. Tomie also worked for Aspen Skiing Company for many decades. Tomie was a long time fixture of the local rodeo scene. His antics as rodeo clown and his roping skills and horsemanship will long be remembered. Tommy also was one of the famed horse-mounted Pitkin County Sheriff’s Posse members. RIP Tommy. Your memories live on in all those whose lives you touched.
He is survived by his children, Donald J. Zordel (Kim), Donna L. Held (Randy) and Betty J. Zordel. Grandchildren include Tomie Ogren, Brandy Held, Dustin Held, Tylor Zordel Kantas and Vanessa Kantas. He is also survived by three of his brothers, Bill (Dot), Zell (Louise) and Donald Zordel.
