The Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Association Board established the Trent Goscha Sportsmanship Award in 2017. The belt buckle award is presented annually at the Finals Rodeo in memory of Trent. Trent was a bright light in the community helping with the local gymkhanas, participating in the Roaring Fork Ranch Roping and always a presence at the Carbondale Wild West Rodeo. Trent participated in Mutton Bustin’ and Calf Scramble at an early age and was always encouraging others to do their best. Trent had a contagious laugh and a smile that lit up a room. He is greatly missed and our hope is that his memory and his exuberance for life will be carried out through others who have a love for the cowboy way of life and that never give up attitude.
Volunteers and participants of Carbondale Wild West Rodeo and/or the Mt. Sopris Gymkhana are eligible for this award. Nominations are due no later than Monday, August 20th. The award will be announced at the Finals Rodeo, August 23rd. It does not need to be a written nomination but if speaking to one of the board members please be able to explain why you believe this individual is the best candidate for the award. If submitting an email please write a paragraph or two that explains how your nomination exemplifies sportsmanship.
To submit a nomination you can email to: [email protected] or talk to any of the board members at the rodeo. Your board members are Mike Kennedy, Tom Harrington, Melanie Cardiff, and Mike Goscha.
