Trent Goscha Sportsmanship Award Goes to Peter Grange

Mike and Jayme Goscha presented the Trent Goscha Sportsmanship Award to Peter Grange at the final Carbondale Wild West Rodeo of the season. Peter is a long time arena volunteer at the rodeo. Peter does every task with a smile on his face and is a huge encourager of the younger set in the Mutton Bustin' and Calf Scramble. You won't hear Peter complain and he's always quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Peter is a good sport and can always be seen at Hawaiian Night wearing a grass skirt, bright floral shirt and lei on his cowboy hat.

Spirit of Court Will Award Goes to Kallie Sims

At the August 22, 2019 Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Finals Perry Will awarded Kallie Sims the "Spirit of Court Will Award" in memory and honor of Court. Court was the son of Perry and Susan Will and he left this earth far too soon. The Will family continues to honor Court's memory and love of the sport of rodeo by awarding a rodeo participant or volunteer who best exhibits an unselfish attitude of help and caring towards others and who steps up first to volunteer. Congratulations Kallie!!

Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Scholarship Recipients

The 2019 Carbondale Wild West Rodeo Scholarship Recipients are Shannon Weeks of Carbondale and Wyatt Bramwell of Fruita/Mack. Shannon barrel races at CWWR and has been a timer for the rodeo for several seasons. Wyatt team ropes at CWWR. Both Shannon and Wyatt attend Colorado Mesa University and are on the college rodeo team. Shannon and Wyatt are pictured above and with their family and CWWR board members. Congratulations Shannon and Wyatt.

Quinten Hayden, CWWR Hero Admired for his Continued Enthusiastic Support

Quinten Hayden, 2018 Carbondale Wild West Rodeo (CWWR) All Around Champion and Champion Bull Rider as we previously reported was injured in a rollover car accident in February and remains wheelchair bound. Quinten has not let this slow him down and has vowed to remain strong. Quinten has become a hero of ours for his courage and positive attitude. He attended the CWWR for a majority of the season and could be seen behind the bucking chutes offering encouragement and advice to the bull riders.

Junior All Around Award New This Year

We're pleased to announce that part way through this year's season we have been able to add a Junior All Around Buckle Award thanks to Mason Morse Ranch Real Estate. (More info on sponsor to follow soon.) To qualify contestants must be under 16 years of age. Must participate in one event for 9 rodeos and a second event 4 times. One event must be a Junior event, but both don't have to be Junior events, contestant can also compete in an Open event along with the Junior event to qualify. Must win money in at least 2 events.
